Last Updated on August 4, 2025 by Charlotte
Viroth’s Hotel is one of those rare places that gets everything right: thoughtful design, peaceful atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. In this post, we’re sharing our honest Viroth’s Hotel review based on our recent stay in Siem Reap, Cambodia, including what we loved and why we’d stay again.

Our First Look At Viroth’s Hotel
We were greeted at the front entrance of Viroth’s Hotel and served cold towels and a tamarind and honey welcome drink as we were ushered inside. In the heat and bustle of Siem Reap, Viroth’s Hotel is like an oasis.
Around the property, tropical plants and vines overflow from balconies, and a line of palm trees fringes the saltwater pool in the courtyard.
The hotel and grounds are tastefully decorated with sculptures and paintings by local artists, along with a mix of ancient art from Cambodia.
Our Room At Viroth’s Hotel
We’d reserved a Deluxe Double Room and were flattered to learn that we were upgraded to the Deluxe Double Room with a Pool View. This room came with a private terrace overlooking the pool and a terrazzo bathroom with a rain shower.
Our luggage was carried up by the staff, and we were pleased to see that our room had a spacious bedroom, bathroom, and terrace. A refuge from the noises of the city, our room was quiet and air conditioned.
Although the room was 50s inspired, we were pleased to see that the interior felt modern, high quality, and brand new. The bed was just right- with luxurious cotton linens and multiple pillows per person.
The Hotel Grounds
The hotel is arranged around the pool in the central courtyard, with private terraces for each room overlooking the lush area. As someone with blonde hair, I was ecstatic to find a saltwater pool (if you know, you know). Along the pool, loungers with umbrellas made the perfect space to stretch out and read a book in between dips in the pool, and nibbles on mid-afternoon snacks from the bar.
Viroth’s has both a bar and restaurant, with custom cocktails and mocktails to cool you down on balmy days. Although we didn’t personally use them, the hotel has a gym and a spa on the bottom level of the property.
The Soul Of Viroth’s Hotel
The heart of this property lies in the attentiveness and care of its staff. Upon return from long, hot days exploring Angkor Wat, the front desk attendants always greeted us with smiles, cold towels, and tea, and inquired about our day. The concierge is always available and can help to make your time in Siem Reap unforgettable, arranging tours, massages, and reservations for fine dining. I was especially impressed, as each staff member appeared to be at least trilingual in English, Cambodian, and French, if not speaking even more languages.
When we mentioned to the concierge in passing that we were planning to miss breakfast in pursuit of watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat, they arranged to pack us a picnic breakfast for the next morning. Lastly, Our room was scrupulously made up multiple times each day, even when we simply went down to the pool for the swim after a quick nap. I’m a bit embarrassed to share this on the internet, but one night I came back from dinner to find the dirty clothes that I’d hastily strewn across the floor carefully folded and placed on the dresser.
The Food At Viroth’s Hotel
Dinner at Viroth’s Restaurant
Speaking of food, everything we ate at Viroth’s was marvelous. On our first night, we opted to have dinner at Viroth’s restaurant as we were fatigued from our travels. The restaurant has both an enclosed air-conditioned section and outdoor seating.
Our waiter was happy to suggest some Cambodian classics like Beef Lok Lak and more creative dishes like palm fruit salad.
The presentation of the entrees was pleasing to the eye, with edible flowers adorning the plates. Even better, every dish we tried tasted just as good as it looked.
Complimentary Breakfast
As early birds, we were pleased to find that the breakfast service started early. Breakfast is served al-fresco in the restaurant area near the bar.
After being seated, a staff member brings a menu with the breakfast options and you can check off however many dishes you’d like. I was ecstatic to see that Viroth’s had a proper espresso machine, and we enjoyed cappuccinos every morning in addition to French press coffee.
The Magic Is In The Details
From the craft cocktails at the bar to the careful placement of the complimentary robes and slippers in the rooms, we could tell that every small detail was accounted for. Call me silly, but I noticed that the pencil next to the notepad was sharpened to a perfect point.
A Reluctant Farewell
On the last morning of our stay, I realized that I did not want to leave. We indulged in all the remaining dishes we hadn’t yet tried, making our last breakfast one to remember.
The concierge had arranged our private transfer back to the airport, and before we knew it, we were headed back to Bangkok. I hadn’t expected to like Siem Reap as much as I did. I’m sure that we’ll return someday, and when we do, I know Viroth’s Hotel will be waiting for us.
How To Book At Viroth’s Hotel
I booked my room at Viroth’s Hotel through Agoda. Agoda offers free cancellation until just up to the check-in date. However, if you’re interested in a hands-off longer stay exploring Angkor Wat in one of Viroth’s vintage cars, or enjoy inclusive spa treatments and shopping, one of Viroth’s special offer packages might be right for you.
